The 2022 NBA Draft is nearly here, and although that means we should definitely concentrate on the newest of rookies on Thursday, June 23, there are also some names of vets being thrown around that could be dealt that night.
Already, JaMychal Green was dealt pre-draft, in a swap that sent the big man to the Oklahoma City Thunder and the 30th overall pick in 2022 to the Denver Nuggets. So could we see some more of that happen on draft night?
It’s absolutely possible. There are some names being thrown around ahead of next week who could end up dealt on that Thursday night. Let’s run through them:
1 Rudy Gobert, Utah Jazz
Maybe we get a blockbuster like this?

2 John Collins, Atlanta Hawks
See above, and it feels like we’re going to similarly hear about Collins trade rumors all summer if he’s not dealt at the draft.
The Hawks owe him a lot of money through 2024-25 AND there’s a player option for him the year after. Moving him in a trade that doesn’t involve another large contract may prove difficult, so perhaps the draft isn’t the place for that.
But you never know!
3 Jerami Grant, Detroit Pistons (UPDATE: HE WAS TRADED!)
He wasn’t traded at the deadline last year and perhaps he’ll stick with Detroit heading into 2022-23.
But … there’s some Hawks chatter mixed in with Blazers talk, which is interesting given how Portland could give up its lottery pick for immediate help. Hmm.
REPORT: Rival NBA execs believe the Blazers will “dangle” the No. 7 overall pick in trade talks to maximize Damian Lillard’s prime.

UPDATE: HE WAS TRADED TO THE BLAZERS!
4 D'Angelo Russell, Minnesota Timberwolves
This is intriguing, mostly because the T-Wolves were pretty good last season and we know he’s close with Karl-Anthony Towns.

5 Danny Green, Philadelphia 76ers
They are exploring trades involving Danny Green and the No. 23 pick in the June 23 NBA draft, according to sources. The Ringer was first to report the news.
This makes a lot of sense with Green’s contract expiring and with his horrific knee injury he suffered in May.
Pairing the not-fully-guaranteed $10 million contract and that first-rounder could be enticing to a team looking for payroll help. The Sixers could get a win-now player.
6 Christian Wood, Houston Rockets (UPDATE: He was traded!)
If the Rockets were to draft Paolo Banchero, they’d need to make room in their frontcourt.
From Hoops Hype:
Rival executives who’ve spoken with HoopsHype expect the Rockets to gauge the trade market on Wood’s value this summer. Houston needs to decide if Wood, who turns 27 in September, is going to be a long-term member of the core or be traded for future assets that may align better with Jalen Green and potentially Banchero.
Could that happen on draft night? (Nope! He was dealt to the Mavericks.)
7 Myles Turner, Indiana Pacers
There’s some chatter the Pacers could move the big man on Thursday.
