HAPPY NBA DRAFT DAY!!!
That’s right, the 2022 NBA Draft is finally upon us, and after months of mocks, analysis and trade talk, the real thing is coming to Brooklyn at the Barclays Center on Thursday night, with two rounds of players being taken and a total of 58 — not 60, we’ll get to that in a minute — picks being made.
We here at For The Win have churned out a bunch of awesome content, from mock drafts to big boards to who the experts have collectively matched between prospects and teams.
So let’s dive in, with a cheat sheet of all our content for you to read ahead of Thursday night, starting with the final mock draft of the year before the real deal:
1 Bryan Kalbrosky's final mock draft
SPOILER: Jabari Smith doesn’t go No. 1 in this one.
2 Interviews with some of the biggest names
“For me, it’s all about team chemistry. If I’m the number one option, I’m the number one option. But at the end of the day, I want to go to a team and do the things that I need to do for us to win games. That’s my main goal. On different nights, there are guys who are different options — especially on really good teams. If I’m a guy that can establish himself as a scorer in the league, and be consistent with that, the sky’s the limit for me.”
3 Who's going to be in the green room?
There are 22 names, including Chet Holmgren.
4 Breaking down prospects by their "archetypes"
Who’s a shot creator in this class? A ball handler? A slasher? We break that all down.
5 A "consensus" mock and how the experts are matching prospects to teams
6 Why are there 58 picks instead of 60?
Our Cole Huff has the answer, and it’s all due to illegal tampering involving the Heat and Bucks.
7 The full draft order
For now. We’ll see if trades change that up.
8 A look at the rumors swirling
Could Jabari Smith really not go No. 1? That’s one of the many rumors swirling. I’ll let our Mike Sykes tease that out:
For a while there, it seemed like Jabari Smith was a sure thing to go No. 1 overall to the Orlando Magic when Thursday rolls around. But, apparently, that isn’t the case.
9 Some current players who could get dealt
Jerami Grant? Traded to the Blazers.
Christian Wood? Dealt to the Mavericks.
But there are more names being thrown around, including D’Angelo Russell.
